If you\u2019re serious about energy independence, you need to stop thinking about where the panel fits<\/em> and start thinking about how it\u2019s secured<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the cold waters of Estonia or the heat of the Med, a solar panel is a giant sail. If your mounting isn’t rock-solid, the sea will eventually take it back. Here\u2019s how to do it right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Choosing Your Weapon: Rigid vs. Flexible<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rigid Panels<\/strong>: These are the gold standard. They\u2019re efficient, durable, and encased in a sturdy frame. If you have the space for a solar panel frame<\/strong>, go rigid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rail & Stanchion Mounts:<\/strong> This is the “Quick Win” for most sailors.
